The
Friends Committee on National Legislation in Washington,
DC, recently completed an impressive renovation project to create their
"Green Building."
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center began in 1983 in what was the Food & Maritime Trades High School, located in Greenwich Village. See New York Times July 8, 2008, article about the 25th anniversary of the Center.
Solar One, located in Manhattan, is an advanced prototype building that has been an active office, education, arts, and event space since 2004.
ABC No Rio, a community arts center since 1980 located in Manhattan's Lower East Side, is trying to raise money for a new sustainable and energy-efficient building.
